The chance of going to Africa and climbing to its tallest peak is more than the average Joe's adventure fill for a long time, but climbing the mountain only takes a total of around 9 days including travelling, why not combine it for an adventure of a lifetime?
We figured we would try to do as much as possible with the three weeks that we were able to free up in December/Januar. So what to do in Africa... duh! Safari! We were not going to let the chance of seeing the big 5 get away from us, so booking a safari was inevitable. Planning and surfing the net from up here in the cold north quickly led us towards the coastline with its beaches and palm trees. We ended up with Zanzibar due to the combination of pristine beaches and small travelling time from Kilimanjaro Airport.
