Photo/Video Gear

Being the techie that I am, one of the first things I thought about when starting to plan the Kilimanjaro trip was what gadgets I could bring...  Most people would probably go for logistics or simple travel planning, but I am sure there are more people like me out there, so this is for you guys!
I quickly decided that if I was to make such a journey, I wanted to make sure I remembered it. I am one of those guys that need photos and video to remember what happened over the last decade..

The first decision we made was to both bring high quality video and photo equipment. Don't get me wrong, you can get excellent images and video from budget class equipment, since the locations you will be presented with are simply stunning. Even a complete amateur would come back with at least a few stunning photos from a trip like this. But since I was slowly starting to plan a bigger scale production my eyes quickly set on the high end of consumer products. My equipment is merely a suggestion, but my tedious research before the trip payed off when it came to the actually climb. In hindsight I now see that I should have paid more attention to planning the shots ahead. So I therefore decided to write a guide based on my own experiences about taking good pictures and video while climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. The information I could find on high altitude filming was scarce, and I am far from an expert on the field, but hopefully my experiences will help if only a little. Enjoy!
