The first thing a Norwegian thinks about when the word holiday comes to mind is beaches and palm trees.. Quite sad, but considering the fact that our beaches usually are covered in snow it's no wonder that you see our entire population migrating south when the temperature reaches sub zero. So in good Norwegian spirit, the first thing we started thinking about after we decided that we wanted to climb Kilimanjaro, was to find some beaches to relax on after the deed was done.
We considered Mauritius but found it a bit expensive. We also had a look at some of the beautiful beaches along the coast of Tanzania, but when we realized how close the Zanzibar island was, and the fact that there is a direct flight to beach bliss from Kilimanjaro Airport we were sold. Zanzibar was definently going to be our next stop.
We ended up choosing Nungwi on the northern tip of Zanzibar which had the perfect combination of nightlife, beaches, diving and decent hotels.
